About Me

My name is Rhonda DeVaney and I have been working at the BSA for seven years. I am currently the administrative assistant for the Youth Development Team. I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, reading, and scrapbooking. I have an 18-year-old son, a 15-year-old son, and a 12-year-old son. Two of my sons are involved in Scouting.

Why the BSA Walk-the-Walk Activity Challenge Is Important to Me

This challenge is important to me because I've just been recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes and want to lose weight and get physically fit in order to hopefully prevent me from being diagnosed as a diabetic in the future.

Something Interesting About Me

I am involved with my sons' troop as a committee member. I help with fund-raising events and volunteer for boards of review. I'm also involved in the National Council's Venturing crew as a leader. I attend their camping trips and activities, plus volunteer in their fund-raising events. This summer I will be attending the world jamboree in Sweden as a leader with the crew.

My Blog: Week 1

I finished my first week of Walk the Walk. I walked for a total of 3 hours and lost 2 pounds. Yea!!

My Blog: Week 2

Just finished my 2nd week of Walk the Walk. Not only did I walk in the park like I normally do, I also walked in the mall and helped my son move. Since I started watching what I eat a couple of months ago and now walking, I have lost a total of 15 pounds with 3 pounds being from this program!

My Blog: Week 6

It's been a busy two weeks. The last weekend of June, our World Scout Jamboree youth from this area that is in our Jamboree Troop went on a campout to learn some skills and just have fun! Of course, I did a lot of walking. The big hit for the weekend with the youth was the water gun fight. One girl stated that her highlight of the weekend was learning the different knots. After that weekend, they are all excited and looking forward to the trip later this month.

This past week, I did some walking. Inside of course since it is extremely too hot to walk outside. (over 100 degrees on a daily basis here in Texas!) Can't wait to go to Sweden for the cooler weather! I've lost only inches these past two weeks, not pounds.
