SELECT TIMBER HARVEST AT CAMP KAROONDINHA

Caution on use of Camp K

The Susquehanna Council has contracted to harvest timber in the southern section of camp to thin the forest as a forest management measure in that part of camp. This section of camp is entirely forested area. The cutting of trees began in late February.  The southern section of camp is off limits for use for any activity until the tree cutting and cleanup is complete.  The off-limits area includes all of the Boundary Road and the Boundary Trail

All the facilities and main activity areas at camp are available for use and not within the off-limits area.

Note: the logging trucks will be using the Boundary Road and Thomas Dam Road for access to and from the harvest area. Thus, Boundary Road is closed. Extra caution is advised when using Thomas Dam Road.

Few youth organizations encompass the breadth, volume, and diversity of physical activity common to Scouting, and none enjoy a better safety record. Check out the links below for more information about the programs and policies that BSA and the Susquehanna Council have implemented to keep our youth and adult volunteer leadership safe and join us in our commitment to safety in scouting.

Adventure Awaits

The Susquehanna Council, Boy Scouts of America, serves more than 2,100 youth through the leadership of 1,000 adult volunteers. Scouting provides programs to youth in five counties in Central Pennsylvania – Clinton, Lycoming, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The Susquehanna Council is home to beautiful Camp Karoondinha along Penns Creek in western Union County. Each summer we provide exceptional programming to Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Venturers. We are building character in the youth of our communities, one child at a time!  Click below to secure your spot at Camp K for this summer!

Now is the perfect time to join a Cub Pack (all youth grades K-5) or Scouts BSA Troop (all youth ages 11-17). There is no obligation for attending a few meetings just to see what it’s all about!

Thank you to the NRA Foundation for selecting the Susquehanna Council and Camp Karoondinha this year for the Grant. We received .22 ammunition, shotgun ammunition, and arrows to help us overhaul our program moving forward. From all of us at the Susquehanna Council, Thank you!
