Tico Perez, BSA National Commissioner

Tico Perez is a member of the National Hispanic Initiatives Committee. Throughout his involvement with Scouting, Mr. Perez has worked tirelessly to strengthen the organization in underserved communities. He chairs the Southern Region Hispanic Scouting Task Force and serves on the National Scoutreach Committee. In 2006, he facilitated a Scoutreach conference at the Philmont Training Center.

Mr. Perez is quite active at the local and regional levels. He becomes the BSA's National Commissioner at this year's National Annual Meeting, and he is the current president of the Southern Region and a past president and longtime board member of the Central Florida Council, where he now serves as vice president for endowment. An Eagle Scout, Mr. Perez has received the Silver Buffalo, Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, Distinguished Service, and Whitney M. Young Service awards.

Mr. Perez also is a member of the board of governors of the State University System of Florida, a member and past chairman of the Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs Advisory Council, and a member of numerous nonprofit boards in central Florida. He has been called one of Orlando’s 10 most influential men by the Orlando Business Journal and one of Florida’s most influential leaders by Florida Trend magazine. The University of Central Florida, the Sigma Chi International Fraternity, and ¿Que Pasa? magazine have all honored him for his service.

An attorney with Baker and Hostetler, Mr. Perez also works as a political analyst for Orlando’s NBC affiliate and as a talk-radio host.
